New York ranks No. 2 in nation for businesses owned by women
According to the State of Women-Owned Businesses Report commissioned by American Express OPEN, New York is the No. 2 state in the nation for women-owned firms, placing second only to California.
New York has an estimated 674,200 women-owned firms that have a combined employment of 468,000, and generate almost $94 million in annual revenue.
California has over 1,063,000 women owned businesses that generate over $189,529,000 in combined revenue, and employ over 977,000 people.
Industries that had the highest concentration of women-owned firms nationwide include health care, social assistance, educational services, and administrative and waste services.
