STOSS landscape and design will create a public gathering playspace in Syracuse’s Near Westside that engages activities through a new technologies and movement.
The Boston-based design team submitted the winning design for Syracuse’s Movement on Main: Designing the Healthy Main Street contest.
The Movement on Main seeks to elaborate on the streets role as an agent of social and recreational life, according to its website.
This particular competition sought to tie investments occurring along Wyoming Street as a part of the revitalization of the Syracuse’s traditionally impoverished Near Westside neighborhood.
Wyoming Street is anchored on the north by the new WCNY broadcast facility and on the south by the renovation of the Nojaim Bros. grocery store and the expansion of St. Joseph’s Westside Clinic, the website states.
The design firm’s proposal “Light-Play” was among five companies competing for the contract.
