U.S. Customs and Border Protection hiring in NY

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection plans to hire border patrol agents in upstate New York as the agency ramps up its hiring to patrol the borders of the United States.

It plans to hire 1,600 total, but did not disclose exactly how many of those jobs would be in New York. It will look to fill posts in New York in Oswego, Wellesley Island, Rochester and Buffalo.

The hiring burst is in response to posts that have become vacant due to retirements or departures. Those seeking employment with border protection must be at least 37, a U.S. citizen, and meet several other requirements.

Border patrol jobs start at $39,000 per year and can go up to about $70,000 per year. Additional information and job postings can be found here.
