CarMax drives in new dealership in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. — Used car dealership CarMax Auto Superstore announced plans to open a new dealership in Amherst on the site of a Holiday Inn that will be demolished.

Located at 1893 Niagara Falls, the hotel will be replaced by an 18,000-square-foot dealership and supporting buildings. In total, the purchase of the hotel cost $8 million, and the razing of the existing structure plus construction of the new CarMax dealership will cost another $10 million.

CarMax currently has 146 locations nationwide. This will be the first location in Western New York. The 199-room Holiday Inn was first built in 1967 and expanded three years later.
