70 percent of New York construction firms will be hiring in 2016

NEW YORK — According to the Associated General Contractors of America and Sage Construction and Real Estate, a whopping 70 percent of New York construction firms and general contractors will be hiring in 2016.

The monumental job growth is being driven by an increase in available work, with the construction industry booming in the larger cities such as New York City, Albany and Buffalo. The amount of jobs created is expected to be substantial, with 60 percent of firms expecting to hire up to 16 new employees.

Most firms surveyed for the report responded that multifamily, health care and power projects are expected to drive most of the growth. A worker shortage is expected initially, which will also drive up the average salary in the area as well.
